Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to join a leading communications consultancy. The role reports to the Finance Director and will oversee day‑to‑day accounting, financial reporting and support the commercial development of the business. The position is offered on a long‑term contract with flexible hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end process and prepare internal monthly management accounts.
• Coordinate and direct budget preparation, financial forecasts and variance reporting.
• Review actuals versus budget each month and recommend actions.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
• Lead the finance team, providing support and direction.
• Provide finance support to senior management, shaping financial strategy.
• Deliver commercial analysis and MI reporting to meet financial targets.
• Ensure client accounts are managed within agreed budgets and optimise commerciality.
• Leverage technology and financial systems to streamline processes while maintaining controls.
• Undertake ad‑hoc projects as required.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CPA).
• Proven experience in financial management/control.
• Strong analytical ability and commercial acumen.
• Experience with general ledger, budgeting, forecasting and compliance.
• Ability to work closely with senior management and influence strategy.
