About the role
The University of Galway invites applications for nine fully funded PhD studentships within a national centre for data science and AI. The programme combines individual research with a cohort‑based training experience covering a wide range of interdisciplinary themes.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct original research aligned with one of the centre’s themes (e.g., foundational methods, people‑centred AI, health).
- Participate in structured training modules on transferable and domain‑specific skills.
- Engage with industry and public‑service partners through placements, hackathons, and collaborative projects.
- Present findings at seminars, workshops, and conferences.
Required profile
- Recent graduate (master’s level) from any of the listed disciplines, including arts & humanities, engineering, health sciences, mathematics, social sciences, or law.
- Strong academic record and motivation for interdisciplinary research.
- Commitment to the September 2026 intake and willingness to complete a four‑year PhD programme.
