About the role
We are seeking a motivated Graduate Health and Safety Officer to join our construction management team on a site‑based, 18‑month fixed‑term contract. This role offers the opportunity to develop practical health and safety expertise within a leading home‑building company.
Key responsibilities
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Cairn Homes’ Health & Safety Management System on construction sites.
- Identify site‑specific hazards, ensure they are documented and mitigated.
- Maintain site folders, statutory records and enforce strict adherence to site rules.
- Assist the H&S Manager in developing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Coordinate contractor compliance and enforce site‑specific disciplinary procedures.
- Conduct H&S audits, address non‑conformances, and contribute to accident investigations.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety communication.
Required profile
- 3rd‑level qualification in Health & Safety (or related field).
- Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Self‑motivated with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Required skills
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Familiarity with health and safety management systems and risk assessment processes.
