Health & Safety Officer – Residential Construction

About the role

Cairn is seeking a motivated Health & Safety Officer to manage health and safety on its residential construction site in Blessington. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will implement Cairn's safety management system and help deliver the project safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the construction management team to maintain a safe, productive work environment.
• Monitor and enforce Cairn's Health & Safety Management System on site.
• Identify site‑specific hazards, update documentation, and ensure practical controls.
• Maintain site folders, statutory records, and enforce site rules for all contractors.
• Assist in developing risk assessments, safe systems of work, and contractor compliance.
• Conduct H&S audits, address non‑conformances, and support incident investigations.
• Deliver toolbox talks, identify training needs, and chair H&S meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years’ experience managing safety systems in construction.
• Relevant occupational health and safety qualification; IOSH membership preferred.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with contractors, project stakeholders, and statutory bodies.
• Ability to work independently, manage risk, and implement control measures.
