Mechanical Project Engineer

About the role

MSL Engineering Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join its Cork team. You will support the delivery of mechanical installation works, coordinate engineering activities and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards on large‑scale projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a full understanding of the MSL scope of work and report to the Project Manager.
• Support Area Engineers in resolving on‑site engineering queries.
• Work with the Construction Manager to monitor project schedules and coordinate off‑site pipe fabrication.
• Ensure effective on‑site coordination between Mechanical and other disciplines.
• Prepare weekly progress reports for the client and Project Manager.
• Monitor site activities for scope compliance, identify variations and manage ordering/delivery of MSL‑supplied equipment.
• Liaise with consultants, PSCS, contractors and client teams.
• Attend regular progress meetings, participate in safety audits and support QA activities for system handover.
• Interpret and work from piping isometrics and P&IDs.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering role.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and products.
• Experience reading and interpreting piping isometrics and P&IDs.
• Excellent communication, reporting, organisational and coordination abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced project environment.
• Desirable experience in construction or industrial projects, familiarity with mechanical contracting, and knowledge of QA/QC processes and safety standards.
