Mechanical Project Engineer – Onsite Coordination

About the role

MSL Engineering Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead on‑site coordination of mechanical works for multinational clients in sectors such as pharmaceutical, oil & gas, food & beverage and medical devices. Based in Cork, you will act as the area engineer responsible for all mechanical engineering activities within a defined project zone.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate on‑site activities between mechanical and other disciplines.
• Serve as the area engineer, handling all engineering tasks for the assigned project zone.
• Resolve engineering queries in the field and support the client’s piping supervisor.
• Prepare weekly progress and variation reports for the area.
• Monitor contract scope to identify potential variations.
• Ensure correct installation of equipment, pipe spools and supports.
• Provide technical backup to the piping supervisor and liaise with consultants and contractors.
• Work with the client’s QA lead to achieve timely hand‑over of piping systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role with strong on‑site construction exposure.
• Relevant engineering degree.
• Excellent technical knowledge of mechanical systems and products.
• Strong communication and reporting abilities.
