Part-time Staff Nurse – Anaesthetics (25 hrs/week)

About the role

UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic is seeking a part‑time Staff Nurse to join its Anaesthetics/Recovery department for a six‑month fixed‑term contract. Working 25 hours per week, you will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care in the theatre and recovery areas, supporting the anaesthetist and the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide autonomous nursing care to patients in pre‑operative, intra‑operative and post‑operative settings.
• Assist the anaesthetist during procedures and manage recovery care.
• Assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
• Participate in on‑call, late‑stay and weekend duties as required.
• Maintain patient safety standards and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the wider clinical team.
• Report issues to the CNMs and Theatre Manager and support accreditation activities.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse on the An Bord Altranais live register.
• Minimum 5 years post‑registration nursing experience.
• At least 2 years experience in anaesthetics and recovery nursing.
• Experience managing a team of nurses, preferably in an orthopaedic setting.
• Computer literate with good interpersonal skills.
