Research Technician

About the role

Health & Happiness Group is seeking a proactive Research Technician to join its Research and Innovation team at the National Innovation Hub in Fermoy, Co. Cork. The role supports both in‑vitro and in‑vivo projects aimed at discovering novel bioactive compounds that enhance health and wellbeing across the lifespan.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and perform biochemical, analytical, microbiological, and cell‑based assays using ingredients and finished products.
• Support animal maintenance, conduct animal studies, and handle sample collection and analysis when required.
• Maintain data integrity, perform data analyses, and contribute to project reports and scientific publications.
• Assist with ordering laboratory consumables and generating purchase orders.
• Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager to implement sustainable practices, SOPs, and health‑and‑safety policies.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Health Science, Biomedical Sciences, Food Science or a related field (M.Sc. advantageous).
• Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience in biochemical, analytical, microbiological testing or functional food research.
• Experience with probiotics, pathogens, human cell culture, and simulated digestion is a plus.
• Strong analytical mindset with proven data‑analysis competency.
