Resident Medical Officer – Rehabilitation Unit

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Resident Medical Officer (RMO) to join our community‑based rehabilitation unit in Leopardstown, Dublin. The service provides Level 2 and Level 3 rehabilitation for patients transitioning from acute hospitals, with a strong emphasis on the care of older adults.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality medical care in a 25–50 bed rehabilitation unit.
• Perform comprehensive admission assessments and ongoing patient reviews.
• Conduct daily ward rounds and work closely with the multidisciplinary team.
• Manage and optimise medication plans, including prescribing and deprescribing.
• Monitor patient progress and respond promptly to clinical changes.
• Liaise with GPs, geriatric specialists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals.
• Support discharge planning and ensure safe transition to community care.
• Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation.

Required profile

• Registered with the Irish Medical Council.
• Available to start as soon as possible.
• Willingness to work rostered shifts covering a 24/7 service (approximately 39 hours per week, including nights and weekends).
