Senior Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

Flynn, a leading construction firm specialising in critical environments, is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join its high‑performing project team in Cork. You will manage on‑site construction activities, ensuring safety, quality and compliance with drawings, specifications and building regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day technical and engineering requirements on site, including RFIs, submittals and shop drawings.
• Implement quality control measures in line with the project’s BCAR plan.
• Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, planners and quantity surveyors throughout the construction phase.
• Support the Project Manager/Contracts Manager to keep works on schedule and within budget.
• Identify information gaps, develop solutions and work with design teams to resolve issues.
• Maintain strong relationships with the construction team and subcontractors.

Required profile

• Third‑level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Solid knowledge of construction methods and techniques.
• Competence in set‑out, surveying, level work and temporary works coordination.
• Strong numeracy, report writing and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to plan and execute projects within budget and timeline.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Project or a similar scheduling package.
