Senior Information Security Engineer – Shadow IT Risk Management

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Information Security Engineer to join its Data Protection team in Ireland. The role focuses on managing Shadow IT risk, designing governance frameworks and ensuring data security across the company’s cloud and SaaS environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the execution of the Shadow IT and Data Protection roadmap, owning enforcement, escalation and governance processes.
• Develop and maintain a structured blocking strategy for unapproved applications, including risk scoring, decision thresholds and escalation paths.
• Document blocking decisions with business justification, technical impact assessments and policy alignment.
• Balance security risk, business impact and policy compliance in high‑visibility decisions.
• Define and report metrics that scale across Mastercard’s global enterprise.

Required profile

• Proven experience in information security, preferably within large, global organisations.
• Strong understanding of Shadow IT, data protection and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to make risk‑based decisions and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience designing and operating governance processes at scale.
