Server Administrator

About the role

The Server Administrator will ensure the reliable operation, performance, and security of our organization’s server infrastructure. You will install, configure, monitor, and optimise both hardware and software while supporting end‑users and collaborating with IT teams.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain server hardware, operating systems and related applications.
• Monitor server performance, uptime and resource utilisation, proactively resolving issues.
• Manage user accounts, permissions and access rights to maintain security and compliance.
• Implement and maintain firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection and other security measures.
• Perform regular backups and test disaster‑recovery plans.
• Collaborate on network configurations, virtualization and infrastructure upgrades.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and peripheral problems.
• Document configurations, procedures and incident resolutions.
• Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end‑users and IT staff.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience as a Server Administrator or similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Technology or equivalent.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, CompTIA Server+ or Linux+.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Windows Server, Linux and Unix operating systems.
• Virtualization platforms: Hyper‑V, VMware.
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
• Networking protocols and security tools (firewalls, antivirus, IDS).
• Backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Scripting/automation: PowerShell, Bash.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
• Database management and capacity‑planning concepts.
