Staff Nurse – General Emergency Department

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a qualified Staff Nurse to join the General Emergency Department at Connolly Hospital. This full‑time, permanent position offers the opportunity to deliver high‑quality nursing care in a fast‑paced emergency setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department, including assessment, triage and treatment.
• Administer medications, perform clinical procedures and monitor patient vital signs.
• Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals and support staff to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to documentation standards.
• Implement infection‑control measures and ensure a safe clinical environment.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and support the resuscitation team.
• Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff and healthcare assistants.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current registration on the NMBI register.
• Recent experience in an Emergency Department or acute hospital setting.
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of clinical knowledge in emergency care.
• Ability to work flexible shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
