Staff Nurse – General Surgical

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join the General Surgical team at Sligo University Hospital. The role involves delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred nursing care within a fast‑moving surgical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for surgical patients in accordance with professional standards.
• Provide holistic, person‑centred care that promotes independence and enhances quality of life.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient pathways.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
• Support patients and families with information, education and emotional support throughout the surgical journey.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse (NMBI‑registered) with eligibility to practice in Ireland.
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence‑based care.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented, high‑pressure surgical setting.
• Strong communication skills and professional ethics.
