Staff Nurse – Neonatal

About the role

The University Maternity Hospital Limerick is seeking a qualified Staff Nurse to join its Neonatal Unit on a permanent, full‑time basis. This position offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality care to newborns and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to neonates, including monitoring vital signs and administering medication.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and allied health professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and clinical guidelines.
• Support families by offering information, reassurance, and education about neonatal care.
• Participate in unit audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing professional development activities.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a current practice certificate.
• Experience in neonatal or paediatric nursing preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑stress environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in neonatal monitoring equipment and basic life support techniques.
• Ability to administer intravenous therapy and medication safely.
