Tax Specialist – Indirect Tax (Fixed-Term)

About the role

Itron is seeking a Tax Specialist to join its International Tax Department within the Global Business Services team in Cork. This fixed‑term position (12 months) offers a hybrid work environment and focuses on indirect tax compliance and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review, file and pay indirect tax returns accurately.
• Perform periodic balance‑sheet reconciliations and journal postings for indirect tax balances.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on tax queries, new supply chains, contracts and audits.
• Implement ERP updates for new or revised tax rates and reporting requirements.
• Participate in the rollout and testing of invoicing mandates.
• Assist AP/AR/Revenue teams to ensure VAT compliance with minimal disruption.
• Maintain a VAT issues log, prioritize actions and report updates to the GBS Director.
• Uphold internal controls to minimise SOX deficiencies and ensure SOPs are current.

Required profile

• Qualified Tax Analyst or Accountant (or equivalent experience) with 3+ years post‑qualification experience in indirect tax, compliance or regulatory reporting.
• Strong knowledge of tax processes, statutory requirements and digital compliance frameworks such as e‑invoicing and real‑time reporting.
• Ability to interpret legislation, analyse data and support implementation of new tax mandates.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.
