Technical Coordinator – Residential Projects

About the role
Cairn is looking for a Technical Coordinator to manage the design and technical aspects of residential projects in South Dublin. The role will primarily support houses, duplexes and low‑to‑mid‑rise apartment blocks, ensuring design excellence and compliance from concept through construction.
Key responsibilities
- Brief and advise external consultants and specialist subcontractors on Cairn’s preferred approaches, within set timescales and budgets.
- Support the Technical Manager in coordinating pre‑construction design activities.
- Organise and chair design team meetings, workshops and briefing sessions, recording minutes and securing approvals.
- Champion Cairn product quality and legacy, delivering design excellence across schemes.
- Manage Cairn Design Guidance, issue example design packages and develop design guidance drawings and information booklets.
- Liaise with in‑house design and planning teams to provide technical guidance on building and detailing methods.
- Stay up‑to‑date with innovative products, practices and construction methods.
- Coordinate technical information from planning permission grant to construction start, resolving day‑to‑day issues.
Required profile
- Degree or Higher Diploma in Architecture or Architectural Technology.
- Minimum 3 years experience in residential architecture; experience with residential developers is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of design detailing, construction methods and current Building Regulations.
- Commercially astute with the ability to add value during design development.
- Excellent written and spoken communication, methodical approach and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required skills
- Proficiency in CAD and sketch design.
- Knowledge of timber‑frame design and construction (desirable).
- Familiarity with Light Gauge Steel, bathroom pods and pre‑cast concrete.
- Experience with off‑site construction techniques.
- Understanding of building regulations and certification standards.
