Trainee Linesman – Entry Level Electrical Infrastructure Role

About the role

Join a power‑division team responsible for maintaining and renewing overhead electrical line equipment across Ireland. As a Trainee Linesman you will work under supervision, supporting experienced lineworkers and site supervisors to ensure safe and reliable delivery of electrical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Assist qualified lineworkers with maintenance and repair of overhead power lines.
• Support the installation of poles, stays, conductors and associated hardware.
• Use tools, equipment and personal protective equipment safely while working at height.
• Participate in daily safety briefings, toolbox talks and risk assessments.
• Report hazards, near‑misses and safety concerns promptly.
• Travel to various rural and remote sites throughout Ireland, with occasional overnight stays.

Required profile

• Full, clean Category B driving licence and ability to pass a colour‑vision test.
• Good literacy, numeracy and verbal communication skills.
• Physically fit, comfortable with manual labour, outdoor work and working at height.
• Punctual, reliable and safety‑conscious attitude.
• Interest in the electrical, engineering or utilities sector.

Required skills

• Familiarity with basic hand tools or small plant.
• Ability to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP).
• Basic pole‑top rescue techniques.
• First‑aid knowledge.
