About the role
The South Munster Citizens Information Service is recruiting a part‑time Information Officer for its Bantry office. Working 17.5 hours per week, you will be the first point of contact for members of the public seeking information, advice, advocacy and referral services.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely information and advice to citizens on a wide range of topics.
- Provide advocacy and referral to appropriate statutory and voluntary service providers.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, policies and local services.
- Collaborate with partner organisations and contribute to community outreach activities.
- Record interactions and manage case files in accordance with data protection standards.
Required profile
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Preferably a higher‑level qualification in social policy, human rights, social work, law or a related field.
- Significant experience in a busy information, advice or advocacy environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Required skills
- Proficient research abilities.
- Good IT literacy, including standard office software.
What we offer
- Permanent contract with a six‑month probationary period.
- Salary pro‑rated from the full‑time scale €34,672‑€52,899 per year.
- 23‑25 days annual leave (increasing with service).
