Project Engineer – Capital Projects (Food/BioPharma)

About the role

The Outsourced Technical Services (OTS) Department at PM Group is seeking a Project Engineer to join its dynamic team. You will manage the implementation of capital projects on‑site for clients in the Food, BioPharma, Pharma or MedTech sectors, ensuring delivery to engineering, regulatory and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, procurement, budgeting, installation, testing, validation, commissioning and hand‑over of new process equipment and safety upgrades.
• Develop project scope, business case, RFP, URS and CAPEX documentation; obtain approvals and manage tender processes.
• Participate in HAZOP studies, change control, constructability reviews and kickoff meetings with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Approve technical submittals, method statements and issue permits for cold/hot works, work at height, confined spaces, etc.
• Monitor project schedule, critical path, snag lists, weld logs, test packs, P&ID updates and ensure timely response to contractor RFIs.
• Lead weekly progress and safety review meetings.

Required profile

• Degree in Process & Chemical, Mechanical or a related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in a highly regulated environment such as BioPharma, Pharma, medical device, Food or semiconductor.
• Familiarity with utility systems including chillers, HVAC and purified water.

Required skills

• ATEX, CIP and CE Mark (Machinery Safety) requirements.
• HAZOP, CAPEX, RFP and URS development.
• Utility system knowledge (chillers, HVAC, purified water).
• Process equipment validation, commissioning and change control.
• Project scheduling, P&ID management and technical submittal review.
