Assessment of Need Manager – Grade VIII

About the role

The Assessment of Need Manager (Grade VIII) provides senior leadership for the Assessment of Need Office within HSE South West. Reporting to senior executives, the role ensures that assessment services meet the standards set out in the Disability Act 2005 and supports the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Assessment of Need team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of assessment services in line with statutory requirements.
• Manage competing demands, resources and budgets to optimise service performance.
• Ensure compliance with the Disability Act 2005 and related policy frameworks.
• Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency.
• Represent the office in internal and external stakeholder forums, building collaborative relationships.
• Monitor performance metrics, produce reports and drive data‑informed decision‑making.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in health‑service management, preferably within public sector environments.
• Proven senior leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• In‑depth knowledge of the Disability Act 2005 and assessment of need processes.
• Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
