About the role
O’Rourke & Sons Contractors Ltd is seeking a motivated Civil Ground Worker to join its construction team in Galway. The role involves preparing and maintaining site ground conditions to enable safe and efficient building works.
Key responsibilities
- Clear construction sites of vegetation and perform general site clearance.
- Set up construction sites and carry out required demolition work.
- Remove existing drainage and pipework systems.
- Prepare ground for foundations, kerbing, concreting, edging and slabbing.
- Dig trenches and lay drainage pipes, ducting, concrete and tarmacadam.
- Perform all aspects of groundworks as directed.
Required profile
- Minimum 2 years experience as a ground worker.
- Ability to commute to or relocate to Galway.
- Strong attention to detail and a safety‑first mindset.
- Effective communication with machine operatives, crews and supervisors.
Required skills
- Ability to operate a forward‑tipping dumper.
- Ability to operate a ride‑on roller.
- Plant machinery qualification (desirable).
