About the role
Arup is seeking a Civil Works Inspector to join its Dublin team. You will work on‑site supporting the NEC4 Project Supervisor, ensuring that civil engineering construction meets the required quality, safety and contractual standards.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out daily site inspections, quality checks and compliance verification of civil works.
- Monitor workmanship, materials and testing activities against approved drawings, specifications and inspection/test plans (ITPs).
- Maintain accurate site records, photographs and detailed inspection reports.
- Identify defects or non‑conformances and support their resolution with the project team.
- Check temporary works, traffic management and safety arrangements for compliance with method statements and permits.
- Assist with environmental, safety and quality audits on site.
- Liaise with contractors, foremen and quality representatives to ensure clear communication.
- Prepare and review inspection forms, test records and red‑line mark‑ups for as‑built documentation.
- Participate in progress meetings and provide factual updates on workmanship and testing.
- Support reporting, assurance dashboards and handover documentation for the NEC4 Project Supervisor.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering site works (site engineer, site manager or foreman).
- Hands‑on experience with roadworks, drainage, utilities, earthworks, reinforced concrete or structural works.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and testing requirements.
- Experience working under a main contractor or supervision team on live infrastructure projects.
- Attention to detail, proactive problem‑solving and ability to work independently on site.
