About the role
Arcadis, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, is looking for a Construction Engineer to support field engineering activities on a project in Kildare, Ireland. The role involves providing technical assistance, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards throughout the construction phase.
Key responsibilities
- Provide field engineering assistance, inspections and checks to facilitate construction works.
- Resolve site‑raised technical and engineering queries.
- Collaborate with the DPS planning engineer to carry out detailed Level IV planning, including work scope identification and material availability.
- Supply the latest Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, specifications, procedures and method statements to support field operations.
- Ensure contractor compliance with the DPS site quality plan, method statements, risk assessments, inspection and test plans, and maintain quality documentation.
- Inspect and verify construction material, equipment and vendor packages on receipt, during storage and upon installation.
- Organise and execute field engineering and inspection work in line with DPS procedures and standards.
- Interpret drawings and specifications, providing rulings on construction matters that require engineering interpretation.
- Maintain indexed, up‑to‑date documentation, including as‑built drawings and vendor information for hand‑over.
- Implement quality audit programmes and control field changes, closing non‑conformances.
- Assist in construction risk assessments, communicate residual risks to contractors and follow up on corrective actions.
- Support the DPS Material Controller in inspecting specialist vendor packages, preparing reports for back‑charges and insurance claims, and reviewing stored materials for compliance.
Required profile
- Proven experience in field engineering and construction inspection.
- Familiarity with construction quality plans, method statements and risk assessment processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and IFC documents.
- Strong organisational skills to coordinate inspections, documentation and material handling.
