Consultant General Physician – Endocrinology & Integrated Care

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) Mid West is seeking a Consultant General Physician with a special interest in Endocrinology and integrated care to join the multidisciplinary team at University Hospital Limerick. This full‑time, fixed‑term position offers the opportunity to lead clinical services, support patient pathways and contribute to teaching and research within a major Irish teaching hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality consultant‑level care to patients with endocrine disorders and complex chronic conditions.
• Develop and coordinate integrated care pathways across primary, secondary and community services.
• Supervise and mentor junior doctors, medical students and allied health professionals.
• Participate in on‑call rotas, acute admissions and emergency care as required.
• Contribute to clinical audit, service development and research initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical qualification recognised in Ireland.
• Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners, Medical Council of Ireland.
• Experience in general internal medicine with a demonstrable interest and competence in endocrinology.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred, integrated care.
