Consultant Respiratory & General Physician (Part‑time)

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a qualified Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine to join Letterkenny University Hospital and provide primary care services in Donegal. This part‑time role is split equally between hospital duties (18.5 hours/week) and community primary‑care responsibilities (18.5 hours/week), offering a balanced clinical portfolio within the West and North West health region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality respiratory and general medical care to in‑patients at Letterkenny University Hospital.
• Provide comprehensive primary‑care services to the Donegal community, including outpatient clinics and home visits.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, supervise junior doctors and trainees, and contribute to teaching activities.
• Participate in on‑call rotas, emergency response, and acute care pathways.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with HSE standards and guidelines.

Required profile

• Medical degree and full registration with the Medical Council of Ireland.
• Specialist training and certification in Respiratory Medicine and General Medicine.
• Eligibility for consultant appointment (grade 1031) within the HSE.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred care across both hospital and community settings.
