Design Standardization Architect I

About the role

This global position supports the definition, development and delivery of a standardized methodology for chiller product design and sustaining activities within the Chiller Solutions line of business. The role works closely with the design automation team to ensure successful implementation of an automation roadmap and enforces standardized processes worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Document and maintain existing chiller design processes through discovery workshops, design‑for‑manufacturing reviews and collaboration with manufacturing and design centres.
• Create and formalise design rules, guidelines and templates into a standardised methodology that integrates with the PDP/D3 process.
• Act as product‑line architect for design‑related standards, including engineering order manuals, 3D/2D model structures and bill‑of‑materials formats.
• Contribute to generic, cross‑product‑line tools, templates and data structures required by the design automation team.
• Provide recommendations, support deployment, testing and training for the new methodology.
• Guide Chiller Solutions teams through global process change, promoting efficiency and adoption.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience as a designer in product businesses, equipment design, documentation and manufacturing of configurable products.
• Associate degree in a specialised technology field.
• Willingness to travel up to 10 % of the time.

Required skills

• Mastery of 3D modelling software: Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor.
• Experience with 2D AutoCAD (especially Electrical) – preferred.
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, MAPICS and AS/400.
• Experience with bill‑of‑materials configurators.
