Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious, hands‑on Financial Controller to join a multi‑site industry leader at its headquarters in Cork. Working in a modern hybrid model, you will report directly to the Finance Director and act as a commercial co‑pilot to senior leadership, overseeing day‑to‑day financial controls, corporate governance and commercial reporting across Ireland and the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and support a central finance team of six professionals.
• Own the end‑to‑end month‑end close, preparing monthly accounts, group statutory packages and balance‑sheet schedules.
• Coordinate annual budgeting cycles and conduct regular commercial margin reviews and forecasts.
• Manage working capital, cash‑flow forecasting, credit insurance frameworks and banking operations.
• Oversee corporate FX exposure, rolling contracts and swaps.
• Lead internal and external audits, statutory tax returns and VAT filings while maintaining robust internal controls.
• Serve as the primary site contact for Group finance, IT and HR requests, including EDI integrations.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA).
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience in a commercial, manufacturing or multi‑site shared services environment.
• Strong commercial awareness, analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Proactive initiative, inquisitiveness and a solid work ethic.
• Proven ability to supervise, coach and develop team members.

• Enterprise ERP software (implementation experience is a plus)
