General Operative – Construction Support

About the role

GMC is seeking an experienced General Operative to join its construction team in Cork. You will support the safe and efficient delivery of civil and utility projects, working closely with supervisors and trade personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Assist trade personnel in completing tasks safely and productively.
• Prepare and maintain the worksite according to supervisor instructions.
• Perform general housekeeping to keep the site clean and tidy.
• Support the schedule by obtaining tools and materials and assisting where needed.
• Identify and resolve minor issues that could impede task completion.
• Participate in Toolbox Talks and emergency response procedures.

Required profile

• Full clean driver’s licence (essential).
• Manual handling ability (training can be provided).
• Strong work ethic, confidence and motivation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Capable of handling pressure and meeting strict deadlines.
• Good time‑management, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Integrity and respect for confidentiality.
