Health & Safety Lead

About the role

The Health & Safety Lead will oversee all health and safety planning and coordination for a large manufacturing site, from design through to operational readiness. You will ensure that every phase complies with local, national and EU regulations and that safety standards are embedded across the project.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the H&S workstream through design, planning, installation, integration, commissioning, testing and readiness.
• Identify risks, assess feasibility of preventative measures and ensure tender documents meet H&S standards.
• Partner with regulatory authorities, monitor updates and implement required changes.
• Prepare and maintain all site safety documentation, maps, CAPEX assessments and environmental reports.
• Conduct risk assessments, develop prevention plans, coordinate plans and perform site audits.
• Deliver safety trainings, inductions and champion behavioural safety programs.
• Record and investigate incidents, support safety committees and lead regular safety meetings.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality, R&I, Maintenance and Supply Chain for H&S readiness.
• Provide structured progress updates and decision‑support to the Project Director and leadership team.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience managing construction H&S on projects > €50 M, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of local, national and EU environmental and safety regulations.
