Health & Safety Officer (Housing)

About the role

The organisation manages a large housing portfolio across Northern Ireland and is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to support safe delivery of property, maintenance and investment services. Reporting to the Director of Assets, you will work across the Asset Directorate to embed health and safety best practice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional health and safety advice to operational and technical teams.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety management systems.
• Assist with statutory compliance programmes including fire safety, asbestos management, electrical safety and water hygiene.
• Conduct property inspections, site audits and safety assessments.
• Review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Support managers and supervisors to maintain safe working practices.
• Monitor contractor compliance and carry out site inspections on repair, maintenance and capital works projects.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring proper reporting and corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety awareness training, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Promote a positive health and safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
• Membership of IOSH (or actively working towards it).
• Experience in health and safety within property, housing, construction, maintenance or asset management.
• Knowledge of building safety and property compliance requirements.
