Healthcare Assistant

About the role

The Healthcare Assistant will support service users in their own homes, promoting dignity, wellbeing, and independence. Working under the Good Shepherd Centre’s policies, you will help implement recovery‑focused support plans and provide essential daily care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, daily living activities, and medication reminders.
• Carry out household tasks such as cleaning, shopping, and meal preparation as outlined in support plans.
• Support tenants in maintaining their homes and managing personal care.
• Provide relief care for colleagues and attend to emergencies as needed.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, handovers, and confidential records.
• Transport service users to appointments using a company car or public transport.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and supervision sessions.
• Report concerns to the project worker or team leader and adapt to changing user needs.
• Follow health, safety, and welfare procedures and contribute to policy development.

Required profile

• Ability to work a flexible roster over five days, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Commitment to confidentiality and safe handling of personal information.
• Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Vigilance regarding health, safety, and welfare risks in the workplace.
