Lecturer Environmental Science (Full‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

The University of Galway invites applications for a full‑time, fixed‑term Lecturer in Environmental Science, commencing around 1 September 2026. The position is primarily teaching‑focused (60%) with research and administrative duties making up the remainder.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality undergraduate teaching for the BSc Environmental Science programme.
• Teach and supervise MSc modules such as Sustainable Environments, Environmental Leadership, and Biodiversity and Land Use Planning.
• Design and deliver field‑based and project‑based learning experiences.
• Contribute to curriculum development, blended‑learning design and academic administration.
• Engage with students at all levels and liaise with external partners for placements and projects.

Required profile

• Qualified in Field Ecology or Environmental Science with a strong foundation in ecosystem management and conservation.
• Demonstrated expertise in pedagogical practice and delivery of core Environmental Science curricula.
• Experience teaching at the third‑level sector, both face‑to‑face and blended formats.
• Ability to lead programme delivery and contribute to curriculum innovation.
