About the role

The Licensing Specialist will join the Litigation and Investigations team at William Fry LLP, supporting the firm’s licensing and regulatory practice for retail and hospitality clients. You will advise on licensing requirements, prepare and present court applications, and liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Advise clients on licensing requirements, processes and compliance obligations across retail and hospitality sectors.
  • Prepare, present and manage court and licensing applications, including renewals, variations and transfers.
  • Draft correspondence, submissions and supporting documentation for regulatory authorities.
  • Liaise with regulators, advisers and third parties to progress applications and resolve issues.
  • Track licence conditions, renewal dates and compliance obligations for clients.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research to support advisory work.
  • Maintain accurate client files in line with confidentiality and risk‑management procedures.
  • Support client relationship management and contribute to business development initiatives where appropriate.

Required profile

  • Experience working in licensing, regulatory or legal support within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Comfort with preparing and presenting licensing applications and dealing with regulatory authorities.
  • Familiarity with Irish and/or EU regulatory frameworks relevant to retail and hospitality clients.
  • Strong academic or professional background in law, compliance or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience in a top‑tier or mid‑tier law firm, preferably involving transactional or advisory work for retail and hospitality.
