Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

An established building services consultancy in Ireland is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team. The successful candidate will have full working rights in Ireland and at least three years of experience in building‑services design. The role offers technically challenging projects, client interaction and clear career progression in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical building‑services systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water and drainage.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications and detailed design drawings.
• Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary project teams and attend client, design and site meetings.
• Support project delivery through all design stages and conduct site inspections to verify installation compliance.
• Ensure designs meet Irish/UK regulations, standards and sustainability objectives.
• Assist with technical problem‑solving and value‑engineering exercises.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum three years’ experience in mechanical building‑services design.
• Proficiency with industry‑standard design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, IES or Hevacomp.
• Strong understanding of mechanical building‑services design principles and relevant Irish/UK regulations.
• Excellent communication, coordination and ability to manage multiple projects.
