Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

The Sprinkler Design Engineer will design fire‑suppression systems for a variety of customers, using site surveys or supplied drawings. Based in our Cork office, you will join a global leader in smart, healthy and sustainable buildings and work closely with the design team to support business operations and customer needs.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical design work for fire‑suppression systems and ensure design schedules are met.
• Liaise with sales, contract managers and on‑site teams to align specifications, installation and bracketing.
• Complete design risk assessments and verify availability of head types with Purchasing/Stores.
• Review and issue drawings to construction managers and foremen, ensuring accuracy before release.
• Prepare certification documents (FM, NFPA, EN) and add them to hand‑over packs.
• Provide design information for the manufacture of hydraulic data plates.

Required profile

• Design experience in a mechanical, electrical or industrial environment.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; 3‑D CAD capability is a distinct advantage.
• Full, valid driving licence.
• Strong organisational abilities and clear written and verbal communication.
