Mechanical Project Engineer (Site Lead)

About the role

This site‑based position is the mechanical engineering lead on a large construction project. You will act as the primary contact for the main contractor and all subcontractors, ensuring engineering activities are delivered on time, within scope and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day engineering scope, programme and resources on site.
• Coordinate with the main contractor, subcontractors and other trades, attending and contributing to weekly design and construction meetings.
• Oversee submittal and procurement processes, including preparation of logs.
• Develop junior engineers and mentor them as needed.
• Implement health, safety and quality policies and standards.
• Lead commissioning and control strategy, acting as the commissioning lead for the project.
• Assist the Project Manager with status reporting and weekly progress updates.

Required profile

• Relevant third‑level engineering qualification.
• 3‑4 years of experience in a similar mechanical engineering role on construction sites.
• Proven track record of delivering successful projects.
• Strong work ethic, results‑driven attitude and ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Experience with technical submittals and procurement processes.
• Commissioning and hand‑over procedure expertise.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
