Mechanical Project Engineer – Water & Wastewater

About the role

Coffey is looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to lead water and wastewater treatment projects. The role combines technical design, procurement, and on‑site coordination to deliver innovative MEICA and civil works solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, develop and implement mechanical solutions for multiple treatment projects.
• Support senior management in meeting contractual objectives and client goals.
• Coordinate internal and external design and delivery teams across civil, process, mechanical, electrical, ICA, H&S and BIM disciplines.
• Oversee selection and procurement of mechanical equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Manage subcontractors, conduct site visits, monitor progress, troubleshoot issues and enforce safety standards.
• Maintain client and stakeholder relationships from project start to close‑out.
• Prepare status reports highlighting milestones, risks and mitigation strategies.
• Drive consistent implementation of health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role in water/wastewater or related infrastructure.
• Strong commercial acumen and design knowledge.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and resolve scope, cost and schedule issues.
