Motorway Maintenance Operative

About the role

Egis Lagan Services is seeking a Motorway Maintenance Operative to join its Kilkenny depot. You will support the day‑to‑day road maintenance programme for Ireland’s motorway and high‑speed dual carriageway network, providing both routine and emergency services.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as landscaping, grass cutting, road‑furniture cleaning and litter collection.
• Perform traffic‑management duties and assist with incident response and winter maintenance.
• Conduct regular patrols, inspections and defect remedial works across the road network.
• Undertake small civil works, including concrete repairs, ducting and fencing repairs.
• Provide on‑call emergency coverage outside normal hours, including night shifts.
• Maintain accurate records of all tasks completed and follow training requirements.

Required profile

• Second‑level education (e.g., Leaving Certificate).
• Valid Class C driver’s licence and Safe Pass holder.
• Relevant experience in road or infrastructure maintenance.
• Commitment to health and safety practices.
• Work authorisation for Ireland.

Required skills

• Class C driver’s licence (preferred C licence).
• Safe Pass certification.
• Traffic‑management knowledge.
• First Aid, Fire Warden and Manual Handling training.
• Safety Representative qualification.
• Practical ability to perform small civil works (concrete repairs, ducting, fencing).
