Network Engineer IV – Optical Networks

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our global infrastructure team in Dublin. The role focuses on operating and evolving a large‑scale optical network that connects data centre environments worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and execute device upgrades across high‑capacity DWDM and optical transport networks.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Manage change, monitor performance and drive operational improvements in a high‑availability environment.
• Collaborate with telecom providers, ISPs, cloud and data‑centre teams to ensure seamless connectivity.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in optical network operations or support.
• Hands‑on experience with DWDM and optical transport technologies.
• Strong network analysis and troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience working in large‑scale, high‑availability environments.
• Familiarity with telecom or cloud infrastructure environments is a plus.

Required skills

• DWDM and optical transport technologies.
• Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF.
• IP protocols: IPv4, IPv6.
• Layer‑2 technologies: VLANs, STP.
• VPN technologies.
• Scripting: Python, Bash, Shell, Perl.
• Optical planning / modelling tools (advantageous).
