Senior PWB Designer – Cork

About the role

The Senior PWB Designer will join the Corporate Engineering Unit’s PWB CAD Department in Cork, delivering high‑quality printed wiring board layouts for advanced 5G products across Mobile, Compute, IoT, Infrastructure, Automotive and Test Equipment platforms. The role is on‑site and requires close collaboration with electrical, mechanical and manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Translate schematics and design constraints into manufacturable PWB layouts that meet Qualcomm design guidelines.
• Support automotive, mobile, infrastructure, IoT and compute programs, including high‑volume test platforms.
• Work with global engineering teams in the US and India to deliver innovative high‑performance electronic assemblies.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external manufacturers to ensure successful fabrication and assembly.
• Perform Design‑for‑Manufacture (DFM) analysis using Valor and CAM350 tools.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on PWB design experience for high‑density electronics packaging.
• Experience designing consumer‑grade mobile or low‑volume test products using latest‑generation processors and ICs.
• Proven ability to work on complex boards with stacked microvias, sequential lamination and fine‑pitch components (0.5 mm or smaller).
• Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional and geographically distributed teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Altium Designer, Siemens Mentor Xpedition, PADS or Cadence Allegro.
• DFM analysis using Valor and/or CAM350.
• Design of RF, analog and high‑speed digital circuits (DDR2/3/4, HDMI, PCIe, SATA, MIPI, USB 2/3.x, GigE).
• Experience with ATE platforms such as 93K, uFlex and iFlex.
• Knowledge of stacked microvias, sequential lamination and fine‑pitch component layout.
