Release of Information Specialist (8am‑4:30pm, Mon‑Fri)

About the role

The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I works within the VitalChart department of VRC Companies, LLC, handling medical‑record requests for healthcare clients. The role ensures timely, accurate delivery of records while protecting patient privacy and complying with HIPAA and other regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Process Continuing Care and Disability Determination Services requests, with cross‑training on additional request types as needed.
• Validate patient authorizations and ensure compliance with federal and state statutes.
• Retrieve, upload, and release requested portions of electronic or physical medical charts.
• Perform quality‑control checks to prevent breaches of Protected Health Information.
• Document all actions, exceptions, and communications in ROI software.
• Alert supervisors to questionable requests, potential breaches, or delays.
• Respond to requester inquiries in a respectful and efficient manner.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality output.
• Ability to prioritize requests based on turnaround requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with supervisors and requestors.
• Understanding of HIPAA, state privacy laws, and healthcare‑record handling procedures.

• Proficiency with ROI software for logging and tracking requests.
