Senior Commercial Account Executive - Athlone

About the role

Howden Ireland, part of the global insurance group Howden, is hiring a Senior Account Executive in its Commercial division, based in Athlone. Reporting to the Team Leader and Head of Existing Business, the post owner takes full responsibility for a portfolio of commercial clients, leads renewal and retention, and actively pursues new business. It suits a highly experienced professional with strong technical knowledge and commercial acumen.

Key responsibilities

• Build long-term partnerships with key commercial clients and act as a trusted advisor on insurance and risk matters
• Manage a client portfolio, ensuring retention and profitability and spotting cross-selling and up-selling opportunities
• Lead renewals of complex commercial risks, from market engagement and placement structuring to negotiation and delivery
• Pursue and convert new business and contribute to revenue targets
• Analyse client risk profiles and propose tailored insurance solutions
• Leverage insurer relationships to secure competitive terms while keeping abreast of market trends and pricing
• Ensure compliance with regulations and company procedures, with complete documentation and audit readiness
• Mentor junior colleagues, give feedback to leadership on markets and products, and lead client meetings and presentations

Required profile

• Minimum 8+ years' experience in commercial insurance broking or underwriting, managing complex client portfolios
• CIP qualification is a necessity
• Proven record in client retention, portfolio growth and new business generation
• Experience mentoring or supporting juniors preferred
• Full clean driving licence

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and the Irish insurance market
• Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to operate at a strategic, advisory level
• Organised, able to handle multiple priorities in a fast pace
