Senior Design Engineer – Sensors (Cork, Ireland)

About the role

Sensors‑based hardware technology is used in navigation, gaming, smart user interfaces, multimedia, virtual and augmented reality. This role offers the chance to work with cutting‑edge sensor technologies embedded in smartphones, automotive, IoT, smartwatches and other consumer‑electronics devices.
Key responsibilities
- Architect, design and implement digital sensor hardware for ASIC SoC.
- Debug, verify, optimise and achieve bit‑exact matching with test vectors.
- Perform ASIC synthesis, static timing analysis and deliver timing‑closed netlists for layout.
- Estimate power and implement low‑power design techniques.
- Collaborate with software and systems engineering teams.
- Follow Qualcomm’s RTL and netlist release processes.
- Develop Python automation and new methodologies to improve workflow efficiency.
- Participate in project reviews and maintain documentation.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or a related field (or higher).
- At least 1 year of RTL design experience on‑chip with custom digital logic.
- Experience with ASIC RTL synthesis, LEC, power extraction tools (PTPX), Primetime and RTL linting.
- Familiarity with ASIC ECO flow, design‑rule checking and clock‑domain crossing checks.
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic team environment.
Required skills
- RTL design using SystemVerilog.
- Scripting in Tcl, Perl and Python.
- ASIC synthesis, static timing analysis and power estimation tools.
- Simulation and gate‑level debugging.
- Knowledge of MBIST, DFT flow and low‑power design techniques.
- Programming in C++ and SystemC (plus).
