Senior Manager AI Engineering

About the role

ICON, a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation, is hiring a Senior Manager, AI Engineering and Operations for its Dublin office (hybrid). You will lead the engineering operations behind the central AI platform, multi-agent framework and agent services layer, combining technical expertise with people leadership to deliver secure, scalable, reliable AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, stability and continuous improvement of the central AI platform, multi-agent framework and agent services
• Promote engineering excellence through code quality, CI/CD, automated testing and deployment governance
• Set up monitoring, observability and incident management to keep services production-grade
• Build, lead and mentor a cross-functional engineering team
• Oversee resource planning and delivery across several concurrent AI programmes
• Embed security, compliance and responsible AI principles in all engineering outputs
• Partner with stakeholders on strategy, technology roadmaps and emerging AI tools

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including leading engineering teams
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying and operating AI/ML systems in production
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Ability to manage complex technology programmes and work with cross-functional stakeholders

Required skills

• Agentic AI, multi-agent systems or modern LLM-based frameworks
• Cloud-native architectures, DevOps/MLOps and platform engineering
• Microsoft certifications (e.g. Azure, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, AI) highly desirable
