Senior Project Manager – Construction

About the role

The Senior Project Manager will lead a portfolio of construction projects from planning and design through to commissioning and defect‑liability periods. You will be responsible for delivering projects safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards while maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a group of projects through all phases, ensuring safety, schedule, cost and quality targets are met.
• Lead procurement activities and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
• Collaborate with design teams and main contractors on progressive planning and design.
• Oversee financial aspects, produce accurate client reports and liaise with bank monitors.
• Ensure compliance with codes of practice, design standards and health & safety regulations.
• Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supervise day‑to‑day activities of project managers, providing technical and contractual support.
• Manage change control processes and interface coordination across the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction sector.
• Degree qualified in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture or a related discipline.
• Chartered (or on pathway to chartership) with RIAI, RICS, CIOB, IE, APM or an equivalent institution.
• Strong industry network and proven ability to advise clients transparently.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and decision‑making skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with project management software and toolsets.
• Knowledge of RIAI Blue/Yellow Forms, GCCC contracts and Design‑&‑Build contracts.
• Experience in procurement and multidisciplinary team leadership.
