Senior Substation Design Engineer – HV Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Substation Design Engineer to lead high‑voltage substation design work across multiple transmission and distribution projects. Based in our Dublin office, the role offers hybrid working and occasional site visits.

Key responsibilities

• Design HV equipment such as generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers and earthing systems.
• Prepare detailed drawings and schematics using AutoCAD, MicroStation and EPLAN.
• Develop control and protection schematics, wiring schedules and material specifications.
• Create electrical plant drawings, single‑line diagrams and ensure compliance with IEC, EU standards and building codes.
• Support project scoping, address technical queries and assist during construction and pre‑commissioning phases.
• Produce as‑built drawings, conduct site reviews, audits and engineering evaluations.
• Represent the PSDP, carry out design risk assessments and draft preliminary health & safety plans.
• Manage multiple projects across regions, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (NFQ Level 8).
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in substation design.
• Strong technical and design aptitude with excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
• Proactive, flexible and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Full driver’s licence required.
