Site Engineer – Construction (Cork)

About the role

Clancy, a leading Irish construction company, is seeking a Site Engineer to join its Cork team. The role involves overseeing the engineering function on construction sites, ensuring accurate setting‑out, and delivering projects safely and to high quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the overall engineering function on site, focusing on accurate setting‑out and level implementation.
• Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors and the workforce to ensure information accuracy.
• Review detailed designs, critique where necessary and communicate with designers to secure constructible information.
• Coordinate design development from designer details to approved workshop drawings and subcontractor technical data.
• Read and interpret drawings for layouts, material measurements and related tasks.
• Plan works efficiently to meet programme targets without compromising safety, quality or integrity.
• Order and control on‑site materials and maintain engineering records.
• Check plans, drawings and setting‑out coordination.
• Attend regular team meetings and ensure continuous interaction.
• Oversee safety, sustainability and quality management, including BCAR coordination.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (or equivalent) with at least three years of relevant experience.
• Methodical practitioner with strong technical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven experience interfacing with clients and consultants on engineering matters.
• Confident supervising site works and engaging with multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
