Surfacing Supervisor

About the role

NexVentur is looking for an experienced Surfacing Supervisor to lead high‑quality asphalt projects across the West and Midlands of Ireland. You will manage site crews, coordinate material deliveries and ensure all works meet safety and technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise surfacing crews and subcontractors on‑site to maximise productivity and quality.
• Coordinate daily delivery of asphalt, bitumen and plant machinery to multiple locations.
• Execute council overlay projects in line with local authority specifications and timelines.
• Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and enforce Health & Safety regulations (HSA).
• Liaise with council engineers and private clients to resolve issues promptly.
• Monitor progress against schedules and report to the Contracts Manager.
• Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, plant returns and material dockets.
• Manage traffic management plans to ensure public and worker safety during road works.
• Oversee surface preparation and asphalt laying/compacting to meet technical drawings.
• Identify and rectify defects or non‑conformances immediately.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years of supervisory or foreman experience in civil engineering or road surfacing.
• Proven background in tarmacadam/asphalt surfacing with strong knowledge of laying techniques.
• Experience managing council overlay and road restoration projects.
• Familiarity with the Midlands/West regions of Ireland.
• Ability to motivate and mentor site crews.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
