Technical Advisor - Electrical & Instrumentation

About the role

Newmont's Lihir gold mine on the island of Niolam, about 800 km north of Port Moresby, is recruiting an experienced Technical Advisor for Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) training. You will develop workforce capability and support the reliability of fixed plant operations across crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching and gold recovery, giving technical leadership, mentorship and specialist E&I support to maintenance and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical coaching, mentoring and training to Electrical & Instrumentation personnel.
• Provide specialist support for fixed plant electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Support maintenance, calibration, commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
• Assist with HV and LV electrical systems, motors, MCCs, power distribution and process control equipment.
• Ensure instrumentation and control equipment is maintained to site and industry standards.
• Support plant shutdowns, reliability initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain and update technical documentation including P&IDs, drawings and instrument databases.
• Champion safety leadership and promote best-practice maintenance standards.

Required profile

• Experience as an experienced E&I technical advisor.
• Ability to work in a dynamic mining operation alongside internal teams and external consultants and contractors.
